Mayor's Charity Ball Friday 11th May

The Mayor of Cowbridge with Llanblethian Siân Vaughan and consort Rob hosted a charity ball in the Bear Hotel on Friday 11th May in aid of Cancer Research Wales. The evening was a huge success and raised over £1600. 

Thanks go to all those who attended on the night and the Bear Hotel for fantastic support and organisation of the event. A number of items were donated to auction and these included a Wayne Rooney signed Everton shirt  donated via Mark Rollings, a signed Sam Warburton shirt donated via CRW,an Afghan rug donated by D Connors, a signed limited edition print donated by Nick John Rees and a meal for 2 at the Hare and Hounds donated by Tom Watts-Jones these items raised £500. Thank you to Rob Price and Richard Killick for running the auction. There was an extensive raffle with prizes donated by Specsavers, L'Oreal, Cowbridge RFC,I G Nicholas, Cllr Harris, Julian Hitchcock, Lyn Thomas, Cllr Baty, Tesco, P and J Knapp, Waitrose, A Hubbard, Jacqui Jenkins, Shampan, Alun John, W G Davies, Kim Logsdon, Del Davies and the Mayor and Consort. Other private donations were received to sponsor wine for the tables which certainly added to the atmosphere on the night and from people unable to attend the event. Thanks must also go to Mike Wilcox for supporting the event and for taking excellent photos as always. Kirstin Jenkins a fund raiser from Cancer Research Wales was also present to talk about the excellent work the scientists are doing at Velindre hospital. Her assistance on the night was invaluable It was a fantastic way to end the mayoral fundraising for the year a huge thank you to everyone including the Gem newspaper who have supported the events since May 2017.
